------->>>Register for one (or all) Technology Workshop(s)Monday, June 110am - 12 - Basic Blackboard for Instructors
Blackboard can seem to be a very daunting tool for either new instructors or those that use it only occasionally. This workshop will attempt to take the mystique out of Blackboard by inviting participants to "build out" an upcoming course using the basic built in Blackboard tools. Those who wish can bring their lunch and continue working with their course over the lunch hour with the faculty consultant leading the workshop. Monday, June 11pm - 3pm - Basic Web Design for InstructorsSince every Blackboard course is really a little website, it is important for instructors to have some basic knowledge of web design principles. This workshop will be geared for beginners, and will explore topics such as “how the Web works,” “best practices for organizing a website (or course-site) and working with graphics/photos and documents,” and “a few HTML tags that will make your life soooo much easier.” Tuesday, June 210am - 12 Anatomy of an online course This session will review what makes an effective
online course using examples from recently taught online and blended
learning classes taught at Bethel Tuesday, June 21pm - 3pm - Creating online "lectures" using Audio PowerPoints and Adobe PresenterEver thought it might be nice for students to have already heard your lecture before they come to class, so you have more time for interaction? Or are you a hybrid or online instructor looking for an easy, effective way to create sharp content for your courses using tools and skills you already possess? This workshop will teach you how to use PowerPoint and Adobe Presenter (an add-on that Bethel supports) to create high-quality web-ready presentations for your courses. Thursday, June 410am - 12 - Using the Blackboard Wikis and Blogs: Collaboration and Publishing in the (online) ClassroomWould you like learners to work together and still be able to monitor who is doing what? Would you like to share student work within your class, but want original work? This workshop will allow participants to build and interact using the Teams LX Wiki and the Journal LX Blog wthin Blackboard and consider how these tools can be used to enhance teaching and learning in blended and online classrooms. Thursday, June 41pm - 2:30pm - RefWorks (Citation Manager) Doing research and need a better way to organize lists of articles and
books? Need assistance with creating in-text citations and reference
lists in the correct citation style? This workshop will familiarize you with a tool that will help you do it all! Friday, June 51pm - 3pm - Transforming Face-To-Face Courses Into Online or Hybrid CoursesSo you’ve just been informed that your beloved face-to-face course needs to be transformed into an online or hybrid course. Well, we feel your pain, but you probably need some helpful pointers more than just compassion. This workshop will help alleviate some of that pain by providing a combination of practical (i.e., “step-by-step”) and theoretical (i.e., “you’ll likely be even smarter than before you came”) options that will help you create a useful plan for a successful course migration. Saturday, June 610am - 11am Synchronous online teaching and collaboration: Using Adobe Connect Virtual Classroom for online presentations, discussions, or virtual office hours Hands on session for becoming familiar with Bethel University's Adobe Connect virtual classroom and our new student collaboration and communication room. (Both f2f and ONLINE) Monday, June 810am - 12 - Advanced Blackboard for Instructors
