Rabbits eaten your garden, yearning for the classrooms without windows, miss your students, then this is the opportunity to get ready for a new academic year by acting on those aspirations to add that ..... into your class. Workshops will be located in the Bethel University Library Computer Classroom, HC level 3.Please request a one-on-one or small group session with a Faculty Consultant or a Reference Librarian if no workshops are scheduled to meet your needs or if you reside outside the Twin Cities area. Reference Librarians are available in the IC Monday - Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Faculty Consultants are available in the IC Monday - Friday 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Individual appointments can be scheduled to meet your needs.August 2009 Workshops
------->>>Register for one (or all) Technology Workshop(s)Friday August 21, 9am - 11am - Transforming Face-To-Face Courses Into Online or Hybrid Courses (*** Note Updated Morning Time for this workshop***)So you’ve just been informed that your beloved face-to-face course needs to be transformed into an online or hybrid course. Well, we feel your pain, but you probably need some helpful pointers more than just compassion. This workshop will help alleviate some of that pain by providing a combination of practical (i.e., “step-by-step”) and theoretical (i.e., “you’ll likely be even smarter than before you came”) options that will help you create a useful plan for a successful course migration. Monday, August 2410am - 12 - Basic and Beyond "Pre-school" Blackboard for Instructors
Blackboard can seem to be a very daunting tool for either new instructors or those that use it only occasionally. This workshop will attempt to take the mystique out of Blackboard by inviting participants to "build out" an upcoming course using the basic to advanced built in Blackboard tools. Those who wish can bring their lunch and continue working with their course over the lunch hour with the faculty consultant leading the workshop. Thursday, August 2710am - 12 - Using the Blackboard Wikis and Blogs: Collaboration and Publishing in the (online) ClassroomWould you like learners to work together and still be able to monitor who is doing what? Would you like to share student work within your class, but want original work? This workshop will allow participants to build and interact using the Teams LX Wiki and the Journal LX Blog wthin Blackboard and consider how these tools can be used to enhance teaching and learning in blended and online classrooms. Friday, August 28 - Orientation to Essential Technology (Incoming New Students, but faculty welcome)A brief 45 minute introduction to the technology policies and resources for use by students at Bethel University. Come learn all you need to know to manage discussions, enter grades, and add documents for your supervising faculty. You can also schedule your own personal workshop or take advantage of the open consultant hours in the Information Commons in the University Library.
