Monday, June 1
10am - 12  - Basic Blackboard for Instructors

Blackboard can seem to be a very daunting tool for either new instructors or those that use it only occasionally.  This workshop will attempt to take the mystique out of Blackboard by inviting participants to "build out" an upcoming course using the basic built in Blackboard tools. Those who wish can bring their lunch and continue working with their course over the lunch hour with the faculty consultant leading the workshop.

Since every Blackboard course is really a little website, it is important for instructors to have some basic knowledge of web design principles. This workshop will be geared for beginners, and will explore topics such as “how the Web works,” “best practices for organizing a website (or course-site) and working with graphics/photos and documents,” and “a few HTML tags that will make your life soooo much easier.”

Or are you a hybrid or online instructor looking for an easy, effective way to create sharp content for your courses using tools and skills you already possess? This workshop will teach you how to use PowerPoint and Adobe Presenter (an add-on that Bethel supports) to create high-quality web-ready presentations for your courses.

1pm - 3pm - Transforming Face-To-Face Courses Into Online or Hybrid Courses

So you’ve just been informed that your beloved face-to-face course needs to be transformed into an online or hybrid course. Well, we feel your pain, but you probably need some helpful pointers more than just compassion. This workshop will help alleviate some of that pain by providing a combination of practical (i.e., “step-by-step”) and theoretical (i.e., “you’ll likely be even smarter than before you came”) options that will help you create a useful plan for a successful course migration.
